The World Digital Economics Summit (WDES) 2024 Singapore FinTech Festival Special Session convened at Singapore Expo, bringing together ambassadors and diplomatic envoys from more than ten countries — including the United States, Russia, Jordan, Israel, Venezuela, Estonia, and Uzbekistan — alongside senior representatives from leading international regulatory, academic, and industry institutions. Organized by the Asia Academy of Digital Economics (AADE), the summit convened under the overarching theme "FinTech for Humanity: AI, Digital Assets and Beyond," addressing the most pressing questions at the intersection of financial innovation, artificial intelligence, and global digital economic governance. Held in parallel with Singapore FinTech Festival — one of the world's foremost gatherings on financial technology — WDES 2024 drew on its host city's strategic position as a global fintech and digital innovation hub to amplify both the reach and the impact of its discussions.

Core Themes: AI, Digital Assets, and the Future of Finance

Panel discussions and keynote sessions examined several strategic themes central to the digital economy's trajectory. The first panel, "AI and the Transformation of Productivity: Towards a Human-AI Symbiotic Intelligence Era," explored how artificial intelligence is restructuring labor, productivity, and decision-making across industries. A second featured session — "The Future of Internationalisation in an Increasingly Digitalised World" — addressed how businesses and regulators can navigate cross-border data flows, digital asset frameworks, and Web 3.0 adoption in an environment of evolving multilateral norms. Throughout the summit, participants underscored the dual imperative of fostering responsible AI development while ensuring that the benefits of digital economic growth remain inclusive, equitable, and accessible across geographies.

AADE's Role and Strategic Significance

As sole organizer of WDES 2024, AADE demonstrated its capacity to convene global policy, regulatory, and industry communities around the critical questions of the digital economy. The summit advanced AADE's institutional mission on three interconnected fronts: accelerating the diffusion of digital economic knowledge across sectors; deepening cross-regional dialogue between Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East; and creating a practical platform for multi-stakeholder consensus on responsible innovation. The integration of WDES 2024 into the Singapore FinTech Festival programme further cemented AADE's role as a credible convener at the intersection of digital governance, financial technology, and international cooperation.

WDES 2024 reflected AADE's conviction that the digital economy must be shaped by inclusive, well-governed, and human-centered principles — and reinforced the organization's commitment to bringing together the voices of governments, institutions, and innovators to build a digital future that works for all.
