A New Milestone in China-Singapore Digital Collaboration

On the morning of June 4, 2026, the Singapore office of the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance was officially unveiled. Nearly 30 distinguished guests from Singapore's political think tanks, multinational investment institutions, and leading digital technology companies both at home and abroad gathered in the Lion City to witness this milestone, marking a crucial step forward in the Alliance's layout across the Asia-Pacific region and ushering in a new phase of China-Singapore digital industry collaboration.

At the event, a representative of the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance reviewed the achievements made in the Alliance's first year of operation, and stated that the establishment of the Singapore office aligns with the trend of the booming global digital economy and the continuous deepening of regional cooperation. It also carries forward the deep friendship built through long-term friendly cooperation between both sides, and serves as a key measure for the Alliance to strengthen its global presence and deepen regional collaboration.

As another core overseas office following the establishment of the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance's Geneva office, the Singapore office will effectively shoulder the Alliance's resource networking, project implementation, talent exchange, and standards cooperation in the ASEAN region; support urban digital transformation, technology innovation sharing, and international rules coordination; further strengthen the three-way linkage between Beijing, Geneva, and Singapore; and provide strong momentum for advancing the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and building an open, mutually beneficial international cooperation ecosystem for the digital economy.

Tan Poh Hwee, President of the Asia Academy of Digital Economics, stated that as a global hub connecting East and West, Singapore carries the hopes of DEC40 to radiate across the Asia-Pacific and connect with the world. The Asia Academy of Digital Economics will take talent cultivation as its foundation, technology co-creation as its bond, and industry collaboration as its engine, working to bring DEC40 from vision into reality.

Future Prospects and Regional Impact

Going forward, the Alliance will leverage its Singapore office as an important hub for extending its reach across the Asia-Pacific region, anchored by the core vision of co-building "digital-friendly cities." It will actively participate in shaping Asia-Pacific digital governance rules and industry standards, help bridge the regional digital divide, and advance inclusive development. At the same time, it will build a resource networking platform connecting cities, linking cities, enterprises, universities, and research institutions across Singapore and Southeast Asia to deepen experience sharing and project implementation in areas such as smart city construction, digital trade, AI governance, and data flows, continuously releasing new momentum for regional digital economy cooperation.
