Turning Capital into Growth: AADE Highlights Strategic Outcomes of the iDEA APAC Exchange

November 21, 2025 | Singapore

Following a series of high-level dialogues and roundtable sessions, the International Digital Economies Association (iDEA) Asia Pacific exchange activities successfully concluded on November 21. This series of engagements served as a high-impact working forum, moving beyond conventional networking to focus on a critical economic shift: how the "Global Majority" can effectively transform localized capital and fragmented ecosystems into a unified engine for cross-border growth.

The Asia Academy of Digital Economics (AADE), represented by President Poh Hwee Tan, played a central role throughout the week’s proceedings. The discussions centered on the premise that the next phase of global GDP growth will be driven by the "Global Majority"—nations across the Global South and the Asia-Pacific that are rapidly leapfrogging traditional economic models through digital adoption.

From Ecosystem Building to Market Integration

The concluding sessions focused on the practicalities of "ecosystem-to-ecosystem" connectivity. Rather than focusing solely on individual startup success, delegates from across the iDEA network—including top fintech and regulatory leaders from Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and the Philippines—discussed the creation of standardized "digital corridors".

"The goal is not just to talk about innovation, but to build the plumbing that allows capital and talent to flow across borders with minimal friction," noted AADE leadership during the closing roundtable. The forum identified three key pillars for this transformation:

  • Capital Mobility: Streamlining venture capital and private equity flows between emerging APAC hubs.
  • Standardized Compliance: Utilizing RegTech to ensure that diverse regulatory environments do not become barriers to entry for scaling enterprises.
  • Knowledge Reciprocity: Ensuring that the technological breakthroughs in one market—such as Indonesia’s cybersecurity frameworks or Singapore’s fintech governance—are accessible to the wider Global Majority.

AADE’s Role in the Global Majority Narrative

For AADE, the success of the iDEA APAC exchange is a direct validation of its core mission of Digital Connectivity. By facilitating these high-level working meetings, AADE is actively dismantling the "digital echo chambers" that often keep regional markets isolated.

The Academy's involvement also underscored its commitment to Digital Inclusion. By positioning leaders from emerging economies as the "Global Majority" rather than "developing markets," the forum shifted the narrative toward one of leadership and self-determination. This strategic positioning is essential for empowering the next generation of stakeholders to play a primary role in the global value chain.

As the exchange concludes, the focus now shifts to the implementation of the bilateral agreements and joint initiatives sparked during the week. AADE remains at the forefront of this effort, championing the principle of Pioneer RegTech—governing technology with technology—to ensure that this new era of cross-border growth is resilient, secure, and equitable for all participants in the digital economy.
